The responsibilities can vary depending on the specific establishment and the needs of the Research and Development Chef.
Here are some standard job duties for a baking assistant:
1.
Food Preparation:
Measure and weigh ingredients accurately as instructed (grams, ounces, pounds, etc.
) Sift and mix dry ingredients like flour, baking powder, and spices.
Prepare ingredients such as chopping nuts, fruits, or chocolate.
Take detailed notes of each batch of product produced for research purposes Ability to make multiple batches of the same product with small changes to get obtain the perfect formulation per the Research and Development Chefs Directions 2.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
Assist in maintaining a clean and organized working area Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment as needed Sanitize work surfaces and equipment to ensure food safety Ensure all baking utensils and equipment are clean, stored, and ready for use Dispose of kitchen waste and garbage in a timely manner 3.
Inventory Management:
Keep track of ingredients and supplies.
Notify supervisors when ingredients are running low.
Keep an eye on expiration dates and rotate stock on a daily basis Rotate and label ingredients 4.
Quality Control:
Inspect retained products for quality, appearance, and taste on a weekly basis Keep a log on any changes in product (taste, texture, appearance, etc.
) Report any issues or discrepancies to the Research and Development Chef 5.
Learning and Development:
Work cooperatively with other staff members and communicate effectively Assist in maintaining a positive and productive work environment Offer assistance to other areas when necessary Continuously learn and improve baking skills.
Take direction and guidance in a positive manner Stay updated on new baking techniques and trends 6.
Safety and Hygiene:
Follow all food safety, kitchen, and hygiene guidelines.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as aprons and gloves.
Handle food and equipment with care to prevent accidents.
Keep a log of needs for proper sanitation and cleaning needs (dish soap, sanitizer, etc.
) Qualifications or Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent (Some Culinary background preferred but not required) Basic understanding of how to operate basic kitchen equipment (mixing machines, ovens, scales, etc.
) Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time (no longer than a few hours at a time) Ability to lift items up to 50# Excellent teamwork and communication skills Job Type:
